Some images of the Holy Spirit feel big and dramatic, wind, fire, clouds, but oil is one of those quiet metaphors that sneaks up on you with how deeply it fits real life. God’s Spirit has a way of soaking into the everyday places we don’t always notice. Maybe that’s the point: the Spirit doesn’t just show up in the spectacular moments but in the ordinary ones, slowly softening, healing, and empowering us from the inside out.
