Sometimes I think about how few things I’ve truly seen “from the beginning.” Even with my own kids—whom I met on their very first day—I’m still discovering who they’re becoming, reminding me that most beginnings start long before we ever notice them. John opens his letter by pointing us back to the One who was there from the very beginning, inviting us into a fellowship that’s been unfolding since before any of us took our first breath.
