Jesus Calls an Audible | Ephesians 3:14-21, Psalm 8:4

God cares about me and the smallest details of my life, and he cares about you and the smallest details of your life. I believe He wants me to pass this message along today so we’re jumping into Ephesians to soak in exactly what this means in our lives.

God is real. I needed to be reminded of this today, even though I know it in the deepest fibers of my being in the deepest recesses of my heart. Sometimes we just need to feel his arms around us, and so often the Lord Jesus hugs us through another human being. Welcome to the Bible for Busy People. My name is Erica and I was about to start a brand new series today about freedom. The freedom that you and I can experience because of the Lord Jesus, but I believe it’s for next week or maybe the week after that. I don’t know because I believe God intervened in my life moments ago and reminded me that He is real and that he cares about me and the smallest details of my life. And he cares about you and the smallest details of your life, and I believe he wants me to pass that message onto you. He’s here for you. If you are feeling empty. If you’re like, Lord, I’ve got nothing left. That’s just where his strength begins. My friend Dusty used to say, “The end of your rope is the hem of his robe”, and I’m clutching that today. So, I was sitting here just feeling like, Lord, I’ve got nothing today. I know that I can study the Bible and look at what you say about freedom, and I will do that, but Lord, I’m so tired. I just want to go home, and all of a sudden I got a text from a dear friend, my friend Mary Lou. It arrived right in this moment that I just described to you, this moment of God, I’ve got nothing left today. I want to serve you. I want to record this episode. Help me. Show me what to say. Give me the energy, give me the want to want to have you ever been there? And then Mary Lou’s text popped in. It’s Ephesians chapter three, verse 20, and we’re going to read it. But actually what I’d like to do is read the whole chapter. The funny thing is Mary Lou sent this in The Passion Translation, the TPT, which is not something you and I usually read together, but it’s really good. It’s kind of a more emotional translation of the Bible. So won’t you join me right now in this moment. I think that this moment is for you too. We all need to remember how real our God is, how interested he is in our daily lives, and how he wants to be there for us. He is so awesome and he shows it within the smallest details of our lives. If you make a space for him, he’s going to fill it with something meaningful. Here we go. Ephesians chapter three beginning in verse 14.

So I kneel humbly in awe before the Father of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, the perfect father of every father and child in heaven and on the earth, and I pray that he would unveil within you the limited riches of his glory and favor until supernatural strength floods, your innermost being with his divine might and explosive power. Then by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life. Then you’ll be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences, the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions.

I just want to pop in here and say, picture a diamond and imagine God’s love. It’s so million multifaceted from every angle He shows us his love. Back to the Bible now.

How deeply intimate and far reaching is his love. How enduring and inclusive it is. Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding. This extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God.

Now, here’s the verse that Mary Lou specifically sent. Remember, I’m feeling like I’ve got nothing left in this moment. Maybe that’s where you are today too. Here we go.

Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination. He will outdo them all for his miraculous power constantly energizes you. Now, we offer up to God all the glorious praise that rises from every church in every generation through Jesus Christ and all that will yet be manifest through time and eternity. Amen. Glory, hallelujah. Praise God.

I am all of a sudden overflowing with the fullness of God, the love of God, how he reached out to me in this moment and showed me his love from a different angle. I love when I study his word and he speaks to me. It’s beautiful, it’s wonderful. But today I feel like the living God intervened. He called an audible. He said, I see you, Erica, and if this message is speaking to you, if the verse that Mary Lou sent to me today was for you, you see that’s the living God intervening in your life through a podcast, okay? His love is endless. We just read it’s beyond measurement. It transcends our understanding. It’s extravagant. May I encourage you in these moments to open your arms. If you’re in a place where you can open your arms and people might not stare at you, like you’re weird, open your arms. Or if you’re in a coffee shop, just put your palms out on the table in front of you and say, Lord, I receive your extravagant love for me. I know that you are aware of my frailties, my not enoughs. Whether it’s not enough time, not enough energy, all of it. He’s aware of all of it. Just say, Lord, I know you’re aware of these things and I know that you are mindful of me. The Bible says, and I don’t know where it is in the Bible. I feel like he’s just speaking through me right now. I’ll put it in the show notes. What is man that you are mindful of him? Think about that. He is thinking about you all the time, and he’s reaching out to you today through His Word. I praise the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, for meeting us here today, and I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do next time we meet. Until then, you are really loved, like extravagantly, loved.
